We arrive by our vehicle at the front of the symbol building of the city, the central library building (Vyeçnitsa), and continue our tour on foot. We will visit the central library, listen to its story that will surprise you, Inat Kuća, the Latin Bridge built during the Ottoman period, and the point where Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and his wife were assassinated, which led to the outbreak of World War I. Our tour continues at Sebil Square, named after the fountain, which is a tradition in the Ottoman Empire, and continues on the historical streets of Baščaršija, which still preserves its historical structure. Other sites we will see include the Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower (the only clock in the world that shows time according to the Islamic calendar), and the Kuršumlija Medresa, Moriç and Kolubara Inns. Afterwards, we move to Ferhadija, the most popular street in the city, and continue our tour with buildings reflecting the architecture of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Catholic Cathedral, Markale Market, and the indoor market (where Bosnian cream, dried meat, sausage, and Travnik cheese are sold) and conclude at the "Eternal Flame" Monument built in memory of the victims of World War II. Upon our arrival in Mostar, we will take a panoramic city tour, where the most important site we will see is the iconic Mostar Bridge. The Mostar Bridge, built in 1566 by Architect Hayrettin, a student of Mimar Sinan, with 456 blocks of stone, is a unique architectural masterpiece under UNESCO protection that is so important it gives its name to the city. The bridge was destroyed in November 1993 due to artillery fire from Croatian forces for several days. With the support of the Republic of Turkey and the World Bank, a Turkish company rebuilt the bridge using original stones taken from the river, and it was reopened in 2004. After visiting the old town of Mostar, we will walk through narrow cobbled streets and see structures preserving the architecture of the time, such as mosques, baths, shops, and rooftops adorned with slate stones, before reaching the Koski Mehmet Paša Mosque, another important site that is also one of the best places to take photos of the bridge. After lunch, we will have free time for shopping and personal exploration until the gathering time announced by the guide. We will meet at the specified time and head to our second stop, Počitelj. The Ottoman village of Počitelj, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was taken over by the Ottoman Empire in 1471 and retained its strategic importance until it fell in 1878. You can take beautiful photos in this village, which is one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman architecture. After a tea and coffee break here, we will head back to Sarajevo.
