Day 1 İstanbul – Madrid
Meeting 3 hours before departure at the Turkish Airlines counter in the international terminal of Istanbul Airport. After baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, departure for Madrid on Turkish Airlines flight TK 1857 at 07:00. Upon arrival at 10:30 local time, our city tour of Madrid begins with the vehicle waiting for us at the airport. Madrid, the capital of Spain, is one of the most visited cities in Spain thanks to its deep historical and cultural richness. On our city tour, the first places we will see in Madrid will be the Bullring (from outside), Alcalá Gate and Independence Square, Cibeles Monument, the famous Gran Via, Bernabéu Stadium, Plaza Castilla, Atocha Train Station, the famous Prado Museum (from outside), Plaza de España with the statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Royal Palace (from outside), the 9-gated Plaza Mayor, and Sol Square. After the tour, those who wish may join the extra Great Toledo Tour. (70 Euro) Toledo, located about 70 kilometers from Madrid, is a historic city under UNESCO protection that has hosted different cultures of the Iberian Peninsula and bears traces of Roman, Visigothic, Muslim, and Christian civilizations. Known for its magnificent medieval architecture and cultural heritage, this open-air museum city will be explored through its historic narrow streets, the Toledo Cathedral (from outside), the oldest cathedral in Spain, churches converted from Andalusian mosques, and many more wonders. Day 2 Madrid – Porto
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Porto. Upon arrival, our Porto city tour begins. Porto is the country’s second largest city and is famous for its unique architecture, colorful houses, and narrow streets. During our tour, our first stop will be Boavista, known as a modern trade and business center. Our next stop will be the coastal area of Queijo Castle on the Atlantic Ocean. From here, passing through the Foz district, an old fishing village where the Douro River meets the ocean, we head toward Porto center along the riverbanks. Our route will begin at Carmo Square. We will pass by the historic Lello Bookstore and Clerigos Church and descend to Aliados Square. Bento Station, São Francisco Church, the Stock Exchange Palace, Porto Cathedral, Liberdade Square, Batalha Square, the city’s most famous shopping street Santa Catarina, the Luis I Bridge, and the Arrábida Bridge are among the places we will see. The tour will end with the exploration of Ribeira district, located on the banks of the Douro River and included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. After the tour, those who wish may join the Great Porto boat tour. (20 Euro) We recommend not missing this tour, where you can observe Porto from the Douro River in a different way. After the tour, transfer to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel. Day 3 Porto
After breakfast at the hotel, those who wish may join the extra Great Guimarães & Bom Jesus de Monte & Braga tour. (70 Euro) Guimarães is a historic city in northern Portugal and one of the country’s most important cultural and historical centers. Also known as the “birthplace of Portugal,” Guimarães holds great historical importance as the place where the Kingdom of Portugal was founded in the 12th century. With its narrow streets, stone buildings, and medieval structures, the city resembles an open-air museum. On this walking tour in this beautiful city, which was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2012, the medieval castle, churches that are unique examples of Portuguese architecture, magnificent gardens, historic houses, and streets will remain in our memories. After the tour, we proceed to Bom Jesus do Monte, built between 1784 and 1857 in neoclassical style by Carlos Amarante. We will descend the stairway in front of Bom Jesus Cathedral, known as the labyrinth of stairs, and then continue to Braga. Braga, known as the “Rome of Portugal” because it was built by the Romans 2,000 years ago, is one of the oldest settlements in the country. Its charming historic streets, colorful squares, and traditional buildings will take you centuries back in time as you walk through the city. (50 Euro) After taking photos in Costa Nova, famous for its colorful striped houses, we will carry out our city tour in Aveiro, known as the Venice of Portugal with its canals. Then, after our gondola tour through the canals of Aveiro, we end the tour and transfer to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel. Day 4 Porto – Fatima – Lisbon
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for Lisbon. Our first stop on the way is Fatima. This place, where the Virgin Mary appeared to three little shepherds in 1917 and gave them three secrets, is one of the largest pilgrimage and worship centers of Christianity. During our free time here, those who wish may join the extra Great Óbidos & Nazaré tour. (50 Euro) Our first stop on the tour is Óbidos. When you arrive in Óbidos, you will feel as if you have traveled centuries back in time. In this small town, the locals still walk around in traditional clothing on certain days of the week, keeping history alive. On our pleasant walking tour through the city, its narrow streets, small churches, beautiful houses, and shops will remain in our memories. After this visit, we will see Nazaré, a fishing town surrounded by high coves, and Batalha Church, the only example of Gothic art in Portugal. After the tour, we proceed to Lisbon. Lisbon, the capital and largest city of Portugal, is one of the oldest capitals in Europe. Located on the Atlantic Ocean coast, this historic city stands out with its impressive views, colorful neighborhoods, and rich cultural heritage. On our tour, we first visit the church section of Jerónimos Monastery, then stop for photos at Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries on the banks of the Tagus River. We then take a short walk through Alfama, the city’s oldest district, which suffered the least damage in the 1755 earthquake, takes its name from the Arabic word for bath, and can only be explored on foot, before returning to our vehicle. Along the way, we pass through Praça do Comércio, the Baixa district, Rossio and Restauradores squares, and end at Eduardo Park’s upper terrace overlooking Marquês de Pombal Square at the end of Liberdade Avenue, where we stop for photos before completing the tour and transferring to our hotel. Day 5 Lisbon
After breakfast at the hotel, those who wish may join the extra Great Lisbon Pearls tour (Sintra & Cascais & Estoril & Cabo da Roca). (75 Euro) Sintra is a captivating town north of Lisbon and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is famous for its rich history and extraordinary nature. The most notable structure in Sintra is Pena Palace, built in the 19th century. With its colorful and fairy-tale appearance, this palace, visible from the town’s hills, has become Sintra’s symbol. After our tour here, our second stop will be Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. We continue along the ocean coast, first reaching Guincho Cape and then the “Boca de Inferno” cliff near Cascais. After that, we head to our third stop, Cascais. In Cascais, a charming holiday town on the Atlantic Ocean coast, we visit the fishing harbor and then proceed to Estoril, famous for its casino. Estoril became one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations in the early 20th century, especially preferred by royal families and wealthy tourists. One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the large Estoril Casino. After our tour here, we transfer to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel. Day 6 Lisbon – Seville
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Seville. Seville is a historic city in Spain’s Andalusia region, famous for its cultural richness. On our city tour in Seville, located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, we will first see Maria Luisa Park, including Plaza de España, and Plaza America, the Seville Cathedral (from outside), where Christopher Columbus’s tomb is located and which is the third largest cathedral in the world, and right next to the cathedral the Giralda Minaret, the only remaining part of the mosque on which the cathedral was built, preserving the memory of the Andalusian Umayyad State, as well as the Alcázar (from outside), the palace of the Castilian kings. Later, passing through the Archives of the Indies, where all records of sea voyages to the American continent until the 19th century were kept, we will reach the old narrow streets of Santa Cruz, known as “Old” Seville. At the end of our walk, after seeing Torre del Oro, or the Golden Tower, which was once the main campus of Seville University, formerly a tobacco factory and now a naval museum, we transfer to our hotel in Seville. In the evening, those who wish may join the extra Flamenco Fire Tour. (55 Euro) Seville is one of the birthplaces of flamenco and is considered one of the most important centers of flamenco culture in Spain. At our flamenco evening, you will be mesmerized while watching flamenco dancers. After the tour, transfer to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel. Day 7 Seville – Cordoba & Granada & Alhambra & Seville
After breakfast at the hotel, those who wish may join the extra Great Cordoba & Granada & Alhambra tour. (120 Euro) Our first stop on the tour is Cordoba. Cordoba is a historic city in Spain’s Andalusia region, famous for its historical and cultural richness, impressive architecture, and structures bearing traces of Andalusian Islamic culture. Cordoba is one of Spain’s oldest and most beautiful cities. After a 1.5-hour journey, we arrive in Cordoba, where the Guadalquivir River welcomes us. We cross the historic Roman bridge and enter the city through the Roman gate. The city’s most magnificent structure, one of the world’s largest mosques, the Great Mosque of Cordoba, rises on 850 columns; here we enter with our guide and witness the grandeur of this magnificent work while receiving impressive information. After our tour of the Cordoba Mosque, we continue on foot to see the clean old streets, the old inn reflecting all the elegance of Andalusian architecture, and Cordoba’s houses. After the tour, we head to Granada. Granada is a city full of history and culture in the heart of Andalusia. It is famous for its historical heritage, music and dance, breathtaking views, and the Alhambra Palace. The city is one of Spain’s leading tourist destinations and welcomes millions of visitors every year. During our city tour here, we will see Gran Via Street, Bib-Rambla and City Hall Squares, Granada Cathedral (from outside), Madraza, the city’s first university, the Silk Market, and the old Nasrid Caravanserai. After the tour, we go to the Alhambra Palace. One of Granada’s greatest treasures, the Alhambra Palace is one of the most striking and impressive examples of Andalusian Islamic architecture. It is one of the most visited historical sites in Spain, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and renowned worldwide. This famous structure began to be built in the 13th century on the plateau atop Sabika Hill overlooking Granada, and construction continued until the 15th century. It was named Alhambra, meaning “the Red,” because of its red color derived from the red earth used in its construction. After the tour, return to Seville and overnight at the hotel. Day 8 Seville – Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Seville airport. After baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, departure for Istanbul on Turkish Airlines flight TK 1306 at 18:40. Arrival in Istanbul at 23:55 local time and end of the tour.
