1st Day Istanbul (SAW) – Madrid Meeting 3 hours before departure in front of the Pegasus Airlines counter at the international terminal of Sabiha Gökçen Airport. After baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, departure to Madrid on Pegasus Airlines flight PC 1099 at 09:15. Upon arrival at 11:45 local time, our city tour of Madrid begins with our vehicle waiting for us at the airport. Madrid, the capital of Spain, is one of the country’s most visited cities with its deep-rooted history and cultural richness. On our city tour here, we will first see the Bullring Arena (from outside), Alcalá Gate and Independence Square, Cibeles Monument, the famous Gran Via, Bernabeu Stadium, Plaza Castilla, Atocha Train Station, the famous Prado Museum (from outside), Plaza de España with the statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, the Royal Palace (from outside), the 9-gated Plaza Mayor, and Sol Square. (70 Euro) Located about 70 kilometers from Madrid, Toledo is a historic city protected by UNESCO, having hosted the different cultures of the Iberian Peninsula and bearing traces of Roman, Visigothic, Muslim, and Christian civilizations. Known for its magnificent medieval architecture and cultural heritage, this open-air museum city tour will take us through historical narrow streets, Spain’s oldest cathedral, Toledo Cathedral (from outside), churches converted from Andalusian mosques, and many more wonders. 2nd Day Madrid - Porto After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Porto. Upon arrival, our Porto city tour begins. Porto is the country’s second largest city and is famous for its unique architecture, colorful houses, and narrow streets. During our city tour here, our first stop will be Boavista, known as a modern trade and business center. Our next stop will be the Queijo Castle area on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. From there, we pass through the Foz district, an old fishing village where the Douro River flows into the ocean, and continue along the riverbanks toward the center of Porto. Our route will start from Carmo Square. Passing by the historic Lello Bookstore and Clerigos Church, we will descend to Aliados Square. Bento Station, São Francisco Church, Stock Exchange Palace, Porto Cathedral, Liberdade Square, Batalha Square, the city’s most famous shopping street Santa Catarina, Dom Luís I Bridge, and Arrábida Bridge are among the places we will see. Our tour ends with the exploration of Ribeira, located on the banks of the Douro River and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight at the hotel. 3rd Day Porto After breakfast at the hotel, those who wish may join the extra Görkemli Guimarães & Bom Jesus de Monte & Braga tour. (70 Euro) Guimarães is a historic city in northern Portugal and one of the country’s most important cultural and historical centers. Also known as the “birthplace of Portugal,” Guimarães holds great historical importance as the place where the Kingdom of Portugal was founded in the 12th century. The city resembles an open-air museum with its narrow streets, stone buildings, and medieval structures. In this lovely city, selected as the European Capital of Culture in 2012, our walking tour will leave lasting memories with its medieval castle, churches that are distinctive examples of Portuguese architecture, magnificent gardens, historic houses, and streets. After the tour, we proceed to Bom Jesus do Monte. After descending the labyrinth-like zigzag stairs in front of Bom Jesus Cathedral, built in neoclassical style by Carlos Amarante between 1784 and 1857, we continue to Braga. Braga, known as the “Rome of Portugal” because it was built by the Romans 2,000 years ago, is one of the oldest settlements in the country. Its charming historic streets, colorful squares, and traditional buildings will take you centuries back in time as you explore. This place, where the Virgin Mary appeared to three young shepherd children in 1917 and gave them three secrets, is one of the biggest pilgrimage and worship centers of Christianity. When you arrive in Óbidos, you will feel as though you have traveled back centuries. In this small town, residents still walk around in traditional clothing on certain days of the week, keeping history alive. On our tour, after visiting the church section of Jerónimos Monastery, we stop for a photo break at Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries on the banks of the Tagus River. We then take a short walk through Alfama, the city’s oldest district, which suffered the least damage from the 1755 earthquake, takes its name from the Arabic word for bath, and can only be explored on foot. After returning to our vehicle, we continue past Praça do Comércio, Baixa, Rossio, and Restauradores squares. At the end of Liberdade Avenue, in the upper terrace of Eduardo Park overlooking Marquês de Pombal Square, we take a photo break and then complete our tour and transfer to our hotel. 5th Day Lisbon After breakfast at the hotel, those who wish may join the extra Görkemli Lisbon Pearls tour (Sintra & Cascais & Estoril & Cabo da Roca). (75 Euro) Sintra is a captivating town located north of Lisbon and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is famous for its rich history and extraordinary nature. With its colorful and fairy-tale appearance, visible from the hills of the town, this palace has become Sintra’s symbol. After our tour here, our second stop will be Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. Continuing along the ocean coast, we first reach Guincho Cape and then the Boca do Inferno cliff near Cascais. Our third stop will be Cascais. After visiting the fishing harbor in Cascais, a charming holiday town on the Atlantic coast, we head to Estoril, famous for its casino. Estoril became one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations in the early 20th century, especially favored by royal families and wealthy tourists. One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the large Estoril Casino. After our tour, we transfer to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel. 6th Day Lisbon – Seville After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Seville. Seville is a historic and culturally rich city in Spain’s Andalusia region. On our city tour in Seville, located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, we will first see Maria Luisa Park, including Plaza de España and Plaza América, Seville Cathedral (from outside), where the tomb of Christopher Columbus is also located and which is the third largest cathedral in the world, and right next to the cathedral, the Giralda Minaret, the only remaining part of the mosque on which the cathedral was built, preserving the memory of the Umayyad State in Andalusia, and the Alcázar (from outside), the palace of the Castilian kings. Then, passing through the Archives of the Indies, where records of all sea voyages to the American continent were kept until the 19th century, we will reach the old narrow streets of the Santa Cruz district, known as “Old” Seville. At the end of our walk, after seeing Torre del Oro, or the Golden Tower, once the central campus of Seville University, formerly a tobacco factory and today a naval museum, we transfer to our hotel in Seville. Cordoba is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Spain. After a 1.5-hour journey, we reach Cordoba, where the Guadalquivir River greets us first. We will cross the historic Roman Bridge and enter the city through the Roman Gate. In this 2,000-year-old city, its most magnificent structure is one of the largest mosques in the world, the Great Mosque of Cordoba, with 850 columns. Entering this magnificent monument with our guide, we will receive impressive information while witnessing its grandeur. After our tour of the Cordoba Mosque, we continue on foot through the city’s spotless old streets and see the old inn and the houses of Cordoba that reflect the fine details of Andalusian architecture. After the tour, we move on to Granada. Granada is a city full of history and culture in the heart of the Andalusia region. It is famous for its historical heritage, music and dance, breathtaking views, and the Alhambra Palace. The city is one of Spain’s leading tourist destinations and welcomes millions of visitors every year. During our city tour here, we will see Gran Via Street, Bib-Rambla and Town Hall Squares, Granada Cathedral (from outside), Madraza, Granada’s first university, the Silk Market, and the old Nasrid Caravanserai. After the tour, we head to the Alhambra Palace. One of Granada’s greatest treasures, the Alhambra Palace is one of the most striking and impressive examples of Andalusian Islamic architecture. It is one of Spain’s most visited historical sites, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and renowned worldwide. This famous structure, built on the Sabika hill overlooking Granada, began as a fortress and palace in the 13th century, with construction continuing until the 15th century. It was named Alhambra, meaning “red,” because of the red soil used in its construction. After the tour, we return to Seville and overnight at the hotel. 8th Day Seville – Istanbul (SAW) After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Seville Airport. After baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, departure to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen on Pegasus Airlines flight PC 1110 at 13:25. Arrival at 19:40 local time and end of our tour.
