Sights to see include Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Oriente, the place where the Royal Palace addresses the public, the Alcalá Gate, built as a city entrance to display the city’s wealth, Gran Via with its gallery-like roofs, Plaza Colón, Cibeles Square and Fountain, and the Cervantes Monument. After the tour, we return to the hotel. Accommodation at our hotel. 2. DAY MADRID After breakfast at the hotel, the rest of the day is free. Guests who wish may join the optional Toledo Tour (80 Euro). Toledo is a true open-air museum and one of the most important cities on UNESCO’s World Heritage list as the former capital of Spain. The country’s most magnificent cathedral houses works by world-famous painters and rivals some of the world’s most important museums. Known as the city of El Greco, Toledo has remained unchanged since the 16th century. Buildings bearing traces of Roman, Visigoth, Arab, Gothic, and Renaissance architecture, narrow streets, paintings by El Greco, traditional pastry shops, Damascene stores, and of course its famous cathedral make it a very attractive tourist destination. Another tradition in Toledo is the production of marzipan, dating back to the time when the Arabs conquered the city. A visit to Toledo would not be complete without tasting this delicious sweet. After a walk through the Jewish Quarter, we head back to Madrid. Accommodation at our hotel. 3. DAY MADRID – BARCELONA After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Barcelona by private coach. On the way, guests who wish may join the optional Zaragoza Tour (35 Euro) organized by our guide along the route. On this tour, we will see the Ebro River, the city’s main cathedral, the Pilar Cathedral, La Seo Cathedral, San Pablo Church, Plaza España, and Pilar Bridge. After the tour, we continue our journey. On our panoramic tour, we will see the Lion statue, Cathedral Square, the houses with mezuzahs, the Jewish Quarter, La Rambla, and its famous shops. After free time, we head toward Figueres, with the scenery of the Pyrenees. This town has such an impressive atmosphere that it inspired the boundary-breaking artist Salvador Dalí throughout his life. Here we will visit the museum-house personally decorated by the famous surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. In this museum, where each work is valued at millions of dollars, we will visit the museum containing his mind-bending works and the pieces in which he portrayed his eternal love Gala, followed by free time. Afterwards, we move toward the city center and La Rambla Street. Our next stop is the market Mercat de la Boqueria, located on Barcelona’s most touristic street, La Rambla. Considered Spain’s most famous shopping point, and with “mercat” meaning “market” in Spanish, it is one of the most authentic places where you can experience the local shopping culture and observe the habits of the local people.
