DIYARBAKIR – STUTTGART – STRASBOURG – (Alsace Pearls: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour) – ALSACE / BASEL
After arriving at Diyarbakır Airport’s International Terminal 3 hours before departure and completing baggage drop-off, ticketing, and passport control procedures, we fly to Stuttgart on SunExpress Airlines’ scheduled flight XQ1590 at 03:45. Upon our arrival at Stuttgart Airport at 06:55 local time, we depart to carry out our panoramic Strasbourg city tour. Located on the border of Germany, Switzerland, and France, and also the largest city in the Alsace region, Strasbourg will welcome us like a scene from a fairy tale, with the beauty of a painting. During our panoramic city tour on foot in Strasbourg’s vehicle-free center and streets, which was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1988 and has hosted the European Parliament since 1992, we will see Gutenberg Square and Statue, Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important landmark located in the heart of the city, and Kammerzell House, the oldest house in the city and still serving as a hotel and restaurant today. After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we depart for Bern. Bern is one of the few cities in Europe that has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages. Due to this historical character, it is included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Located within Switzerland and officially German-speaking, Bern also reflects the influence of German culture in its architecture. After our tour in Bern, guests will have free time, and those who wish may join the optional Swiss Alpine Villages by Train: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour (€80). Our first stop is Interlaken. Named “inter-lakes” because it is located between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, Interlaken is famous for its natural beauty and breathtaking views. Important hotels, casinos, and shopping streets of the region are along the route of our walking tour. The historic Victoria Jungfrau Hotel and Höhematte Park are among the places we will see panoramically. After some free time for photos and sightseeing, we proceed to the train station for the next stop of our tour, Lauterbrunnen. We take the train departing from Interlaken and arrive in Lauterbrunnen after about a 20-minute journey. We will feel the deep structure of the valley and the steep rock walls as soon as we exit the station. While walking toward the village center, we will panoramically see the breathtaking Staubbach Waterfall descending toward the valley floor and have the chance to photograph it. Lauterbrunnen is known for its small settlements and walking paths along the valley, which is home to 72 waterfalls. On our walk along the designated route in the village, we will take many photos of the region’s traditional chalet architecture, the natural formations surrounding the valley floor, and the magnificent, heavenly landscapes. We return to Interlaken by train and complete our tour. After the tour, we depart for Geneva and upon arrival, we take our city tour. Geneva, known as “the French city of Switzerland,” is a magnificent city located on the shores of Lake Geneva, where history, culture, science, and nature come together. The fact that the headquarters of international organizations such as CERN, the World Health Organization, UEFA, FIFA, and the United Nations are located in Geneva makes the city a cultural and administrative center. During our sightseeing tour in Geneva, where museums, parks, historical monuments and streets, and fresh air come together, the main places to be seen include St. Pierre Cathedral, the Jet d’Eau fountain, which has become a symbol of Geneva and rises up to 140 meters, and the Reformation Wall. Famous for hosting the annual Cannes Film Festival, Cannes has a sparkling sea and golden beaches. During our city tour, we first see the old town, the city’s first settlement. On our walk through the narrow, winding, vehicle-free streets of the old town, there will be a chance to see souvenir shops and shop. After our visit along La Croisette Boulevard, home to many luxury restaurants, shops, and hotels, and Meynadier Street, we arrive in Nice. On our Nice tour, Promenade des Anglais, Nice Port, Massena Square, Flower Market, and the Courthouse are among the places to be seen. Although known as Italy’s business and finance capital, it is also the right address for shopping and dining experiences. After a short free time in Como, we continue our journey to Tirano. During this fairy-tale train journey, built between 1898 and 1904 and today listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will witness extraordinary scenery and have the chance to take photographs. After about a 2-hour enjoyable train ride, we arrive in St. Moritz, the natural wonder of Switzerland and a favorite destination of the jet set, and after the free time and short orientation tour that may be offered depending on the train schedule on the UNESCO World Heritage Bernina railway line, we set off for our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region.
