After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we conduct our city tour. Known as the “French side of Switzerland,” Geneva is a magnificent city located on the shores of Lake Geneva, where history, culture, science, and nature come together. The fact that the headquarters of international organizations such as CERN, the World Health Organization, UEFA, FIFA, and the United Nations are located in Geneva gives the city an important cultural and administrative position. In Geneva, where museums, parks, historical monuments and streets, and fresh air come together, our tour will include St. Pierre Cathedral, the Jet d’Eau fountain, the symbol of Geneva and rising up to 140 meters, and the Reformation Monument. After the city tour, we set off for Alsace. En route, guests who wish may join the extra Lausanne & Montreux and Fairy-Tale Castles Tour by GOLDENPASS Express Train (95 Euro). Our first stop is Lausanne, which holds a very important place in our national history because it hosted the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne on July 24, 1923, and is also one of the important episcopal centers of the Middle Ages. With its castles from the Middle Ages, D’Ouchy Castle, palaces, cathedrals, and museum buildings, Lausanne takes visitors deep into history, and its charm is further enhanced by its location on the shores of Lake Geneva. After our sightseeing tour in Lausanne, we head to Montreux. Montreux, which is also well known in our national history, is important for the music world as well, as it has a statue of Freddy Mercury, in addition to castles such as Chillon and Blonay, historic buildings, and natural beauty. After our sightseeing tour in Montreux, we will embark on an extraordinary journey into the Swiss Alps with the GOLDENPASS Express. After this breathtaking journey through magnificent natural landscapes and ending near Gruyeres, we continue toward Alsace. En route, guests who wish may join the extra Gruyeres Tour (40 Euro). Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-decked balconies, distinctive rows of shops, cobblestone streets closed to cars, buildings that somehow survived World War II without damage, and quaint cafés, as well as its tower housing the Dolder Museum, which preserves the city’s story through documents and looks like it came straight out of a Grimm fairy tale. After our visit to Riquewihr, we continue our journey to Strasbourg. Strasbourg, located on the borders of Germany, Switzerland, and France and also the largest city in the Alsace region, welcomes us like a painting, seemingly straight out of a fairy tale. Included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1988 and home to the European Parliament since 1992, Strasbourg’s car-free center and streets will be explored on foot during our panoramic city tour, during which Gutenberg Square and its statue, Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important structure located in the very heart of the city, and Kammerzell House, the city’s oldest house and still functioning today as a hotel and restaurant, are among the places we will see. Also known as the capital of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald), our city tour in Freiburg will include the city’s most important symbol, Freiburg Cathedral, the small water channels unique to Freiburg that line its charming streets, Martin’s Gate, the medieval city gate, and Rathausplatz.
