Throughout the journey, a sufficient amount of drinking water is offered free of charge in our vehicles. In-vehicle Wi-Fi is available free of charge within local coverage and usage quota.

Upon reaching Dahab, we switch to 4x4 off-road vehicles and begin our jeep canyon tour, during which we will get to know the impressive nature of Sinai. The canyon route is determined by the local team according to weather, road, safety and official permit conditions.

DAY 4 | MOUNT MOSES – ST. CATHERINE – CAIRO

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PROPHET MOSES: THE MOUNTAIN, THE BURNING BUSH AND THE ANCIENT MONASTERY

After midnight, at the time set by our guide, we leave our hotel with breakfast boxes for the ascent of Mount Moses. On our walk beginning under a star-filled sky in the silence of Sinai, we listen to accounts of the life of Prophet Moses, his struggle for monotheism, revelation, and the meaning of Mount Sinai for the three Abrahamic faiths.

The ascent of Mount Moses is included in the tour price. The route involves a long night walk, steep and uneven rocky ground, high steps, altitude, cold, wind, and moving in darkness. The final section includes approximately 750 stone steps. Total walking time may reach about 6–7 hours depending on the group's pace and conditions. Participants should bring suitable walking shoes, layered warm clothing, gloves, a hat and personal lighting.

Guests with heart or circulatory conditions, respiratory problems, serious knee, back or joint problems, balance issues, severe limited mobility, recent surgery, or any health condition that may prevent strenuous physical exertion must obtain a doctor's opinion and inform the agency before joining the ascent. The guide or local authorities may limit the participation of guests they deem unsuitable for safety reasons.

Guests who do not wish to climb, or who cannot participate due to health or physical fitness, may rest at the hotel. Since the ascent of Mount Moses is an integral part of the package program included in the price, no refund, discount or substitution with another service is provided to guests who do not participate.

After completing the program, our guests who joined the ascent return to the hotel and then visit St. Catherine's Monastery, recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating monasteries in the world. Built during the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, this historic building has remained for centuries a special center respected by different faiths in the region associated in sacred texts with the place where Prophet Moses received God's address.

Inside the monastery we see the area of the Burning Bush, associated with the story of Prophet Moses, and listen to the account of his life: his arrival in Midian, his bond with the family of Prophet Shu'ayb, his prophetic mission, his struggle against the Pharaoh, the exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt, and his receiving divine commands on Mount Sinai. (The monastery is not open to visitors after 11:00 and, on certain dates when a liturgy is held in the monastery, it is not open to visitors for the entire day. On those dates and times the monastery will be viewed from outside.)

St. Catherine is significant not only for Christian history but also for Islamic civilization and Ottoman history. The mosque in the monastery courtyard, built in the 12th century during the Fatimid period, is one of the symbols of the culture of coexistence that developed over centuries between Muslims and the monastic community. The minaret of the mosque and the bell tower of the monastery rising side by side within the same historic complex strongly reflect Sinai's interfaith memory.

In monastic tradition, the protection charter attributed to Prophet Muhammad is recounted as an important memento of the protective attitude of Muslim rulers in the region toward the monastery. After the beginning of Ottoman rule, Sultan Selim I (Yavuz) confirmed the historic privileges and protection of the monastery, and subsequent Ottoman administrators continued this tradition of protection. The traces left in Sinai by Muslim pilgrims, state officials and travelers show that St. Catherine is an ancient place of pilgrimage where different faith worlds meet.

After our visit we set off in our private vehicle toward Cairo. During our long journey, a sufficient amount of drinking water along with limited tea, coffee and snacks are offered in the vehicle.

Upon arrival at our hotel in the Cairo/Giza area, we settle into our rooms. We have dinner at our hotel.

Dinner is included. Limited beverages will be served during the meal.

Overnight stay at our hotel in the Cairo/Giza area.

DAY 5 | CAIRO

FROM SALADIN TO AL-AZHAR: SULTANS, SCHOLARS AND FRIDAY BLESSINGS

After breakfast at our hotel, we set off to explore Cairo, the historical, cultural and spiritual center of Egypt.

Throughout the day a sufficient amount of drinking water is offered free of charge in our vehicles. In-vehicle Wi-Fi is available free of charge within local coverage and usage quota. Since lunch is not included in the program today, snacks are offered in the vehicle to our guests at suitable times.

Our first stop in Cairo is the Citadel of Saladin, rising over the Mokattam Hills overlooking the city. Built during the Crusades to protect Cairo, the citadel reflects the foresight and defensive vision of Saladin, one of the most important rulers of the Islamic world. This historic site, which served for centuries as the administrative center of Egypt, bears the successive traces of the Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman periods.

Inside the citadel we first visit the Muhammad Ali Pasha Mosque (Alabaster Mosque), one of the most prominent structures in the Cairo skyline. Its domes and elegant minarets carrying Ottoman architectural influences and its spacious interior make it one of the most magnificent works left by Muhammad Ali Pasha of Kavala, who left a mark on Egypt's military, administrative and social transformation during the Ottoman period.

From the mosque courtyard we enjoy a wide panorama of Cairo, seeing on one side historic Islamic Cairo and on the other the sprawling neighborhoods of the modern city. Next to the tomb of Muhammad Ali Pasha inside the mosque, we hear about his place in Egyptian history and his connection with the Ottoman state.

Then we visit the Sultan an-Nasir Muhammad Mosque, an important work of the Mamluk period in the citadel. This historic mosque, where Mamluk sultans and court members performed their Friday prayers for centuries, stands out for its balanced architecture and elegant details. The two mosques within the same citadel offer the opportunity to compare the architectural approaches of the Mamluk and Ottoman periods.

After the citadel visit we move to the Sultan Hassan Mosque and Madrasa and the Al-Rifa'i Mosque, rising opposite each other.

The Sultan Hassan Mosque, one of the most magnificent works of Mamluk architecture, was built not merely as a place of worship but as a great educational center where the Quran, hadith, jurisprudence and other sciences of the era were taught. This structure, where different circles of learning come together under one roof, is an impressive example of how in Islamic civilization the mosque and the madrasa, worship and education, were never separated.

The Al-Rifa'i Mosque, located directly opposite the Sultan Hassan Mosque, opens a different door to Cairo's recent history. Beyond its spiritual identity, the presence of the tombs of members of the Egyptian royal family makes this area a special place of visitation both religiously and historically. The two great structures rising opposite each other bring together centuries from the Mamluk period to modern Egypt on the same square.

Since today is Friday, we arrange our program as far as possible according to prayer times. We aim to perform our Friday prayer at the Sultan Hassan Mosque or Al-Azhar Mosque. If this is not possible due to visiting hours, crowds, security or official regulations, we perform our prayer at another suitable mosque along the route.

Continuing our program, we visit the Al-Azhar Mosque, one of the oldest centers of learning in the Islamic world. Since its founding, Al-Azhar has hosted students from different regions for centuries and has held a determining place in the intellectual, educational and scholarly life not only of Egypt but of the entire Islamic world.

Walking through the courtyards of the mosque and its historic sections where study circles were established, we hear the stories of the scholars trained here and of students who came to Cairo from different parts of the world to study. Al-Azhar's centuries-old educational tradition conveys the place of transmitting knowledge from generation to generation in Islamic civilization.

Then we visit the Mosque and Shrine of Imam Hussein, which holds a very special place in the spiritual life of the people of Cairo. According to the deep-rooted religious tradition kept alive in Egypt, the blessed head of Imam Hussein is believed to be located here. For this reason the mosque and its surroundings are among the shrines where love for the Ahl al-Bayt is felt most strongly in Cairo.

Here we remember the great trial that the beloved grandson of the Prophet, Imam Hussein, faced at Karbala and his steadfastness in the name of justice and truth, and we listen to how love and respect for the Ahl al-Bayt are reflected in the religious and cultural life of the Egyptian people. We offer our prayers in the spiritual atmosphere of the shrine and spend a short time in contemplation.

After our visit we move to Al-Muizz Street, at the heart of historic Cairo. Walking among mosques, madrasas, public fountains, tombs and historic houses from the Fatimid, Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman periods, we proceed through a corridor of civilization that resembles an open-air museum.

Among facades adorned with stone craftsmanship, wooden latticed windows, narrow streets and bazaars that have maintained their vitality for centuries, we feel the bond Cairo has built between past and present. Here we get to know a living Islamic city where the sound of the call to prayer, commerce, worship and daily life intertwine, not just its architectural works.

We continue our walk in Khan el-Khalili, one of Cairo's most famous historic bazaars. We are given free time to shop and explore among spice merchants, coppersmiths, textile sellers, traditional handicraft shops and historic coffeehouses.

In the evening we proceed to the Al Saraya floating restaurant on the banks of the Nile. We have dinner, served as a buffet, accompanied by the evening view of the Nile.

The buffet dinner at Al Saraya is included. Limited beverages will be served during the meal.

Then we return to the hotel.

Overnight stay at our hotel in the Cairo/Giza area.

DAY 6 | GIZA – CAIRO

FROM ANCIENT EGYPT TO THE SPIRITUAL TRACES OF THE AHL AL-BAYT

After breakfast at our hotel, we set off to discover the Pyramids of Giza, one of the most impressive structures in human history.

Throughout the day a sufficient amount of drinking water is offered free of charge in our vehicles. In-vehicle Wi-Fi is available free of charge within local coverage and usage quota. Since lunch is not included in the program today, snacks are offered in the vehicle to our guests at suitable times.

When we reach the Giza Plateau, the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, standing for thousands of years, appear before us in all their grandeur. These monumental structures, reflecting the eternal thinking, sense of power and belief in an afterlife of the ancient Egyptian rulers, stand out not only for their engineering achievements but also for humanity's quest in the face of time and eternity.

Accompanied by our guide's commentary, we hear how and for what purpose the pyramids were built, the understanding of pharaohs in ancient Egyptian society, and the life that took shape around these great structures. Standing before works built thousands of years ago, we have the opportunity to reflect on the traces humanity leaves in the world, the power of time, and the transience of all worldly splendor.

We take a photo stop at the panoramic viewpoint where we can see all three great pyramids together. Then we see the Sphinx, with a human head and lion's body, considered the ancient guardian of the Giza Plateau. We listen to the symbolic meanings carried by the Sphinx, which silently gazes at the pyramids, and to the stories that have formed around it over the centuries.

Continuing our visit, we see the Valley Temple, used in connection with the funerary ceremonies of the pharaohs and their understanding of life after death. In this area we learn that the pyramids were not merely independent tombs but part of a vast complex made up of temples, causeways and ceremonial spaces.

After our Giza visit we go to a papyrus workshop, where we get to know Egypt's traditional culture. We watch how papyrus, a plant growing on the banks of the Nile, was processed in ancient times and transformed into a surface for writing and painting. Guests who wish may examine handmade papyrus works here and shop.

Then we visit a perfume and essence center to learn about Egypt's thousands-year-old tradition of scents and essences. We receive information about the preparation of traditional essences, the plants used, and the place of fragrance in Egyptian culture.

In the second part of the day we visit spiritual centers in Cairo that reflect love for the Ahl al-Bayt and the tradition of learning. Leaving behind the stone-carved splendor of ancient Egypt, we now follow the traces of a different heritage kept alive for centuries through prayer and devotion of the heart.

Our first visit is to the mosque and shrine attributed to Sayyida Nafisa, who descends from Imam Hasan, the grandson of the Prophet. Known for her knowledge, worship, generosity and noble character, Sayyida Nafisa has held a special place in Cairo's spiritual life for centuries.

Here we listen to the life of Sayyida Nafisa, her devotion to knowledge and worship, and the deep love the people of Egypt feel for her. In the peaceful atmosphere of the shrine we offer our prayers and spend a short time in contemplation.

Then we visit the Mosque and Tomb of Imam al-Shafi'i, one of the greatest jurists of the Islamic world. Imam al-Shafi'i spent the last period of his life in Egypt, where through his scholarly work he matured his thought and left a great intellectual legacy that influenced subsequent generations.

Through our guide's commentary we get to know the life story of Imam al-Shafi'i, his journeys in pursuit of knowledge, his careful consideration of different opinions, and his place in Islamic legal thought. During this visit we once again recall the importance of knowledge, good character and the search for truth in Islamic civilization.

Our next stop is the mosque and shrine attributed to Sayyida Zaynab, daughter of Imam Ali and Fatima and granddaughter of the Prophet, according to the deep-rooted tradition in Egypt.

The life of Sayyida Zaynab is remembered for the patience, steadfastness and dignity she showed in the face of the great sufferings experienced by the Ahl al-Bayt. Her sense of responsibility, especially after Karbala, and her courage in voicing the truth have made her one of the most powerful female figures in Islamic history.

In the spiritual atmosphere of the shrine we listen to Sayyida Zaynab's patience, resolve and loyalty to her family, and feel how love for the Ahl al-Bayt is kept alive in the religious and cultural life of Egyptian society.

Depending on route, visiting hours and the suitability of worship arrangements, other selected shrines of the Ahl al-Bayt and Islamic scholars mentioned in the program may also be visited. We perform our prayers at mosques at visiting points where it is convenient at prayer times.

After our spiritual visits, we proceed to Mevlana Restaurant to have dinner.

Our dinner menu includes lentil soup, cold mezes and salad varieties, mixed grill with rice, okra stew, dessert and fruit.

Dinner is included. Limited beverages will be served during the meal.

Then we return to our hotel.

Overnight stay at our hotel in the Cairo/Giza area.

DAY 7 | CAIRO – TANTA – ALEXANDRIA

ON THE PATH OF SUFISM TO THE MEDITERRANEAN: FROM SAYYID AHMED AL-BADAWI TO ABU'L ABBAS AL-MURSI

After breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms and set off toward Tanta, one of the important cities of the Nile Delta.

Throughout our journey a sufficient amount of drinking water is offered free of charge in our vehicles. In-vehicle Wi-Fi is available free of charge within local coverage and usage quota. On sections where road and traffic conditions are safe and suitable, limited tea, coffee and snacks are offered to our guests.

Today's journey brings together on one route two great spiritual figures of Egypt and the spiritual heritage that developed around them. While following the traces of Sayyid Ahmed al-Badawi in Tanta and Abu'l Abbas al-Mursi in Alexandria, we closely sense how the Sufi tradition touched the urban life, worship culture and spiritual world of the Egyptian people.

Upon arrival in Tanta, we visit the Mosque and Shrine of Sayyid Ahmed al-Badawi, rising at the heart of the city. After a life journey extending from North Africa to the Hijaz and then to Egypt, Sayyid Ahmed al-Badawi settled in Tanta and, through a life devoted to knowledge, worship and spiritual education, became one of the most revered spiritual figures of Egypt.

With his settlement in Tanta, the city over time gained not only the identity of an important trade center but also that of a powerful spiritual center where people gather to pray and to meet in circles of knowledge and wisdom. The Sufi tradition that developed around Sayyid Ahmed al-Badawi has for centuries brought people from different regions of Egypt together in Tanta and made the city an important place of pilgrimage identified with his name.

In the peaceful atmosphere of the mosque and shrine we listen to the life of Sayyid Ahmed al-Badawi, his place in the spiritual memory of the people of Tanta, and the Sufi tradition that developed around him. We offer our prayers and, if the conditions for visitation and worship are suitable, perform our prayer here.

After our Tanta visit we set off toward Alexandria, on the Mediterranean coast.

Upon reaching Alexandria, we begin to get to know this ancient port city, which carries traces of different cultures from Alexander the Great, through the Greco-Roman world, to the Islamic civilization and the Mamluk and Ottoman periods. Surrounded by the blue of the Mediterranean, Alexandria has throughout history been a meeting point not only of commercial ships but also of ideas, scholars, mystics and different civilizations.

Our first visit is to the Mosque and Shrine of Abu'l Abbas al-Mursi, one of the most important spiritual centers of Alexandria. Known for his life journey that began in Andalusia and extended through North Africa to Alexandria, Abu'l Abbas al-Mursi is a significant spiritual figure who left deep marks on the intellectual and Sufi life of the city.

His story is also the story of the spiritual and cultural bond built between the two shores of the Mediterranean. By bringing together the knowledge and wisdom he carried from Andalusia with the multicultural world of Alexandria, Abu'l Abbas al-Mursi contributed to shaping the spiritual identity of the city through the circles of conversation and education that formed around him.

Today the mosque bearing his name, with its domes, elegant minarets and impressive stone craftsmanship, is one of the most striking structures of Alexandria's Islamic skyline. Inside the mosque and around the shrine we see how the daily life of the city and the centuries-old tradition of spiritual visitation coexist.

We listen to the life of Abu'l Abbas al-Mursi and his place in the Sufi tradition, and offer our prayers during our visit to the shrine. If the conditions for visitation and worship are suitable, we perform our prayer in the mosque.

After our spiritual visit we proceed to the Qaitbay Citadel, rising on the Mediterranean coast. Built by the Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay to protect Alexandria from dangers coming from the sea, this majestic citadel is one of the important structures in the defensive history of the Islamic world on the Mediterranean.

Rising on the site where the Lighthouse of Alexandria, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, once stood, the citadel brings together different historical periods of the city at one point. The rise of a fortress protecting the city on the spot where the great lighthouse that once guided sailors once stood shows that Alexandria has preserved its strategic role as a gateway opening to the Mediterranean throughout history.

Around the citadel we enjoy a panoramic view of the Mediterranean and the Alexandria coastline, feeling the strong bond between the city and the sea.

Continuing our program, we see panoramically the points of Alexandria that reflect its different layers of civilization. As we see the Roman-era monument known locally as Pompey's Pillar, we listen to the story of Alexandria's Greco-Roman past.

Then we view from the outside the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which keeps alive the memory of the ancient Library of Alexandria, one of the most important centers of learning in antiquity. This structure, a symbol of knowledge, research and intercultural exchange, represents Alexandria's claim to be a city of learning and culture today, as it was in the past.

During our panoramic tour along the coastline we observe the harbors opening onto the Mediterranean, the historic urban fabric, and the distinctive everyday life of Alexandria. If the program and time permit, we see the Montaza area and palace gardens panoramically or with a brief visit.

After the visits of the day we proceed to a local restaurant on the Alexandria seafront. Our dinner, enjoyed with a view of the Mediterranean, includes cold mezes and salad varieties, the day's grilled or fried seasonal fish, and dessert or fruit.

Dinner is included. Limited beverages will be served during the meal.

Then we have a short free time on the seafront. We regroup at the designated time and set off to Borg El Arab Airport for our return flight, which departs after midnight.

DAY 8 | ALEXANDRIA – ISTANBUL

RETURN WITH MEMORIES ENRICHED BY SPIRITUALITY

After midnight we arrive at Borg El Arab Airport. After completing the ticket, baggage and passport procedures, we depart on the scheduled direct flight PC629 of Pegasus Airlines at 03:20 to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

We complete the journey that continued through the Ahl al-Bayt shrines, scholars and sultans of Cairo; the thousands-year-old heritage of Giza; and the Sufi tradition of Tanta and Alexandria.

Throughout this special route we not only saw the historic monuments of Egypt but also closely got to know the traces that different civilizations, faiths, and traditions of knowledge and wisdom left on the same land. We bid farewell to Egypt with prayers, spiritual accounts and the beautiful memories we have gathered together.

Upon arrival at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport at 06:25 local time, our tour comes to an end.

Hoping to meet again on another TurWiz organization…
